AW: Partnersuche für Norwegen/Schweden im März (und bitte um Fehlersuche)
Yes Nita it might be warm but the weather station is located in the valley and the effect of foehn (föhn in deutsch) may there bring the temp over to +. It is close to the sea you know, and a storm coming in from south west may bring rain. But snow is NEVER a problem in the meaning of too little of it. It is more a problem of too much, just ask the staff at Sørelva Brøytestasjon. They are the people that operates the snow plows that tries to hold the E6 over the mountain open. About 10 to 20 days every winter they do not manage that, and has to close the mountain for traffic.
I have waited sooo many times at Sørelva to cross the mountain, and they often use a convoy of cars with a snow plow first. At Sørelva you may wonder why they have started operating convoy traffic, for there it is calm. But as you are in the convoy and enter the mountain you understand why! Visibility down to a few metres and without the plow first you would end up stuck in the snow. The snowdrifts are 50cm in less than ten minutes.
250cm of snow is nothing for Saltfjellet. I have seen over 10 metres, even the telephone wires were covered! This mountain is a beauty but it demands respect for the extreme conditions that may occur.
