OT: In dem Unterforum habe ich ja eh nichts zu suchen... Wenn der Kompaß richtig funktioniert (zum Kalibrieren muß man zwei Pirouetten drehen) reicht eigentlich auch schon die Ausrichtung des Pfeils für grobe Einschätzung. Der Vorteil zum Super-Peil-Kompaß : Ich habe das Ding immer vor Augen. Leider ist aber eben kein Verlaß drauf, deshalb der kleine Analog-Kompaß und im Norden dann schon ein richtiger (zu meiner Ehrenrettung). Bei neueren GPS-Geräten wird das aber zuverlässiger funktionieren.

Sometimes the marked hut on the map and the actual hut in the terrain may be quite a long way apart. I checked the Pauro hut, and it is marked at least 300 metres away from the actual position.

But in Norway you have the possibility to use the map http://kart.statkart.no/adaptive2/de...x?gui=1&lang=2 and choose the box on the left <Norge i bilder> Put a mark there, and soom into as far as you may go. Then you SEE the actual hut. If you then use the option on the list above <x,y> you get the actual position in both wgs84 as well as degrees, minutes and seconds.

I once did a tour over Saltfjellet and had marked all the huts into my gps using this method. When we came to the hut Krukki and dig our way down to the entrance door I checked the gps to see how far off the marking were. It was just two metres away! OK, I had luck with that one

Anyway, 300 metres is too far off to find the hut if conditions are bad, but it is just a few minutes work to find the coordinates of the huts in the area you are planning to hike. But all this assumes you are familiar with gps and its use. Referring to the tragic deaths in Sirdal they died just 800 metres away from the hut they had left, and according to information so far they had a gps. So obviously they at least did not know how to use this tool.

Ich würde mich nie nur auf einen Digitalkompass verlassen.
Da geht ein einfacher kleiner Silva mit, der tut es immer...

OT: Sieht gut aus - bei mir hängt da allerdings die Kameratasche mit kleineren Gerätschaften oben drauf. Im Winter macht man das aber wahrscheinlich auch anders. Ist aber das, was ich meine - der tolle Kompaß in der Tasche nützt nicht viel.
