Hallo

Ist vielleicht schon mal jemand von euch am Hadrian´s Wall langgewandert? Ich möchte im Sommer 2009 eine Trekkingtour machen und habe dazu den West-Highland-Way oder Hadrian´s Wall ins Auge gefasst.

Zum WHW findet man viele Infos aber zum Wandern am Hadrian´s Wall konnte ich einfach nichts finden...

Wenn ihr was dazu wisst oder schon mal selbst die Tour gemacht habt, dann wäre ich über ein paar Info´s dankbar...

Die englische Wikipedia hat eine Art Erfahrungsbericht, wenn auch extrem kurz:

... The walking is easy, though muddy in places. The highest point on the path is only 1,000 feet (300 m), and for most of its length the path is more or less flat. Though most of the Wall runs through remote countryside, there are lengthy sections which pass through the cities of Newcastle and Carlisle. The path is well signposted. For most of the walk there are many signs of human activity, and, in summer, many other walkers. Though there are villages and farms near to the path, there are not many places to buy food and drink, especially in the middle sections. The best part of the path is between Chollerford and Walton. This is the highest and wildest part of the path. It is also the part where the Wall is most visible, and there are several important Roman forts. ... mehr

Google Earth paths gibt es auf http://www.greatwallforum.com, Erfahrungsberichte sind dort hochwilkommen.

Normalerweise gehen die Leute dort aber entlang längeren Mauern.

Schöner noch ist wohl der Offa's Dyke.
