Montane Service: Waschanleitung eVent Jacke (was zum Schmunzeln)
Nachdem ich meine undichte Montane Superfly-XT Jacke aus England wieder zurückbekommen habe, möchte ich doch gerne noch die Waschanleitung zum Besten geben, die der Hersteller als (einzige) Antwort rausgerückt hat. Ich find die reichlich ämusant 
.
Ohne jetzt viel schreiben zu wollen: Es kommt innerhalb von Sekunden Wasser durch die Membran im Schulterbereich, wenn man den Stoff in ein Waschbecken hält. Mit ausführlicher Fehlerbeschreibung via Händler nach England eingeschickt und die schicken mir eine Anleitung zurück wie ich die Außenseite wieder wasserabweisend bekomme. Naja, weiß ich auch woran in bei der Firma bin

Das Nachimprägnieren wiederum funktioniert übrigens super, so dass die Jacke immerhin noch für Schauer im Stadtgebiet taugt und alles was nicht durchdringt perlt ganz toll ab.
Hätte so eine Anleitung der Jacke beigelegen, hätte ich sie allerdings nicht gekauft. Ich bin nunmal ein öliger, fettiger Mensch und wasche auf Tour gerade mal mich, meine Unterwäsche und T-Shirts regelmäßig.
PS: Wenn ich die Jacke wieder für 200 Euro bekommen hätte, hätte ich sie trotz allem nochmal gekauft in der Gewissheit, dass sie halt nur 2 Jahre brauchbar ist und der Montane Service lieber abwiegelt, als seine Garantie einzulösen, weil die Jacke bis dahin wirklich angenehm zu tragen war.

Technical clothing needs to be looked after and kept clean to work well. A garment doesn't need to look dirty to be dirty, body oils, dirt and grease can build up on the inside of a garment. How often do you wash your everyday clothes even when you're not sweating hard in them? (Vergleichen die ersthaft ihre teure Funktionsjacke mit meiner Alltagswäsche?!)
Your eVent garment contains a durable water repellant finish (DWR) on the exterior of the fabric that serves as a first barrier to penetration of the fabric by external water. This DWR finish degrades over time and will occasionally need to be replenished. Even though the waterproof eVent membrane is still keeping the water from passing through the fabric (es sei denn sie ist halt hinüber...), performance will be increased if you maintain the DWR finish with regular treatments.
eVent suggest the use of normal biological liquid detergent to remove body oils, dirt and grease, even treating at the same time as your regular garment washings. Please note that although specialist cleaners are suggested for cleaning other waterproof garments, eVent fabrics recommend biological liquid detergent as the best way to get rid of the dirt and grease. (Ich stelle mir gerade die ganzen Wanderer vor, die alle paar Tage am Fluss ihre Regenjacken waschen...
)
If your garment is not washed regularly and body oils, dirt and grease do build up then the DWR finish on the fabric surface will become contaminated reducing the water shedding properties. Water will soak into the face fabric instead of beading off (see the pictures below) reducing breathability and increasing moisture build up through condensation on the inside of the jacket. This is the point where most consumers believe that their garment is leaking. The contamination will also block eVent membrane pores which will also contribute to reduced breathability.
Rucksack straps, ropes etc can also hold grease and dirt (
böse Dinger). It’s always advisable to keep an eye on these areas under the pack straps and back panel for dirt build up and reduced repellency. (Ja, furchtbar, passiert mir auch ständig, wenn ich mit dem Rucksack durch den Schlamm robbe.)

How to Wash
Your garment may be machine washed in warm water (110F / 40C) with liquid detergent, and we recommend a second rinse to remove all traces of detergent from the fabric.
Drip dry your garment, do not ever use a tumble-dryer for Montane eVent garments.
An iron can then be used on the face fabric as this will have a rejuvenating effect on the DWR finish, we recommend that you use a temperature no higher than "warm" (two dot). Please take care around seams, reflective strips and heat transfers
Over time, if a garment is kept clean, but the DWR has been diminished by washing and wear you will need to reproof the garment. Once you have washed with liquid detergent use a specialist cleaner, for example NikWax Tech Wash, to get rid of any residual detergent and then apply a re-proofing product such as NikWax TX Direct. Please make sure you get rid of all dirt, body oils, grease and any other contamination before re-proofing. You may then use the iron as instructed above.
