According to the news media a german man died in Lyngen in Troms yesterday, as a result of being taken by a snow avalance. There has also been a number of snowmobilers killed by snow avalances.
I have no indication that the person that died were a part of this community. He was in a party of four doing downhill slalom.
But all who venture into the Norwegian nature should be aware of this danger. There is a good internet site http://www.varsom.no/Snoskred/ that gives adequate information on a daily basis. Since the snow amounts in some regions are far over the normal level one should consult this site or listen to experienced locals before going to areas that have more than 30% steep hillsides.
