As we are going to Germany this fall and bring our dog with us, I have a few questions regarding ticks. We live in a non-infected area, but we have been to other parts of Norway where ticks are common. Of course the dog got infected, and we had to remove the insect, but our dog does NOT like this removing.
Is there parts in Germany where ticks are not so common as in other parts?
Is there any repellent that works well? As dogs lick themselves dry after a bath I'm reluctant to use repellant that contains DEET on the dog. I have an idea that swallowing DEET is not healthy, neither for humans or for dogs. There are bracelets that claim to prevent insects for people, maybe a collar for dogs in the same material is available?
Is there some removing method that dogs do not object to. We have now a tweezer designed for removing ticks.
Any other good ideas to prevent or remove ticks that works with dogs.
